Library Cards for Minors

If your child borrows a book you consider inappropriate, please return it to us and talk to our Library Director or Librarian. They can help with locating materials for your family and show you tools that you can use to steer clear of topics you'd prefer to avoid. The item will be reviewed for errors in placement and cataloging.

LIBRARY CARDS FOR MINORS

Ages 11-14 Teen Card (G/PG movies)

LIBRARY COLLECTIONS

Books and other materials in the library are grouped into the following collections based on intended audience age ranges, but we do not restrict collections by card─ only movies based on MPAA ratings.

  • Children’s Collection 0-7

  • Juvenile Collection 8-10

  • Tween Collection 11-14 *NEW

  • Young Adult Collection 15-17

  • Adult Collection 18+

*The Tween Collection is for ages 11-14. This collection is to better serve kids who find themselves too old for many of the books in the Juvenile Collection but not quite ready for many of the books in the Young Adult Collection.

RESTRICTED MATERIALS

Restricted materials are library materials that the library board of control has, through majority vote in an open meeting, identified as sexually explicit material pursuant to a request for reconsideration as per La. R.S. § 25:225. As of 10/23/2023 we have had no requests to reconsider materials.
